I realize today is the 4th remembering of 9/11 disaster events. The sun, fires, explosions, have been on my mind too.

Yes, ant disturbance in the house has caused my spirit to have mini-eruptions of its own. Our place has been inundated with ants. Hundreds of them. Milling about. I've been disturbed and perturbed because I don't like to have to harm creatures. Hey - for the most part, I am a very gentle soul and feel the Earth & her inhabitants quite personally. Yeah - but, disturb the children or cause me to believe they are in danger, and I'm not so gentle. My birth sign is called the iron fist in a velvet glove. I can live up to that sometimes. :o)

Anyway, it started around the time of Katrina's raging that sent a few bands of heavy rainfall up this way. The basement flooded and we had a triune of centipedes appear one day. And then came the ants. This year, Sarah is undergoing her 6-year-old petrification of insects and her terror of ants is quite disturbing. Then, they started getting into the food, the beds, everywhere. I tried talking to these ants in an exasperated and somewhat desperate attempt to get them to move out.

Now, we are near 2 weeks post rains and everything is quite dry again. But, still the ants persist. I finally consulted a Shaman guide. Of course, I was told that all creatures when they appear, will have lessons for us. I know this, dear friend - but in the moment I need a solution to the inundation. Then, I will focus on the lesson. He reminded me that talking to these smaller groups of ants was like trying to direct the flow of a droplet of water placed in the ocean. He said you have to talk to the ant collective. The "overseeing" energy consciousness of the creature known as "ant." Whoa.

This whole episode so oddly reminded me of people, particularly the people in crisis post Katrina. I will avoid a discoursing social commentary for now. So, I did as the Shaman directed. Getting to a very quiet place inside, we appealed to this ant "overseer" if you will. We were told that the ants were, indeed, feeling disturbance from and on many levels. Their habitat deep within the Earth is being disrupted from above and below.

Then early today I happened upon the articles which will be posted below. One is on raging Solar Flares that are currently bombarding Earth and the other on an unusual underground disturbance in Oregon. Close to the South Sister volcano, a large bulge has begun to protrude
toward the ground surface. Scientists believe it could be a magma flow spreading out and upward or possibly even a "new" volcano. Kind of freaky. But, it reinforced the above/below and ant connection.

These articles & talk with the Shaman also reminded me of one other time when ants began massing inside our place. It was in the Summer and early Fall of 2003. Around that time, I believe Mars was doing its skyborn glow and the children and I were witness to some unusual
light displays in the Southern and Southwestern sky. Some type of unknown sky vehicles.

There were reports of these lights or "UFOs" by others around that time. There were some unsual tower-structured cloud formations too. Two friends had noticed the strange clouds as
well. So, we weren't imagining. Also at that time, there was a series of unusual "quivering"
earth shakes in and around the pacific Northwest. So, the ant massings we see have now twice
been accompanied by unusual phenomena produced "above and below."

I don't know what it all means, but since yesterday and talking to the "collective" of "ant," I dreamed of ET creatures, old friends, and the ants have virtually disappeared. Overnight. Only saw 2 little guys skating on the counter today. When the Earth and Skies are very active, my head usually tells me so with dreadful pounding. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen have been my friends this week. I am very thankful all around. Here are the articles:

Sun Unleashes 5 Major Flares, Earth May Soon Get Pounded Robert Roy Britt Senior Science WriterSPACE.com S at Sep 10, 9:00 AM ET

An ongoing series of major solar flares, including one late Friday, could disrupt communications
on Earth and generate colorful sky shows for people at high northern latitudes over the weekend. Even more serious effects are possible next week.

The spate of activity from the Sun is being generated by a large sunspot named 798. Sunspots are cooler and darker regions of pent-up magnetic activity. When they unleash their energy, it's a bit like the top coming off a shaken champagne bottle.

Solar flares send radiation to Earth in about 8 minutes. Hours later, clouds of charged particles can engulf the planet. If the magnetic field of a storm is oriented opposite to our planet's protective magnetic field, gaps are created and radiation leaks to the planet's surface, potentially threatening astronauts aboard the International Space Station, sometimes shorting out satellites, and even causing terrestrial power grids to trip.

Solar activity is at "very high levels," according to NOAA's Space Environment Center (SEC). There have been five major flares in recent days, including a tremendous X-17 eruption Wednesday. The most recent event Friday evening was an X-6. Even an X-1 can cause severe disruptions.

The largest flare in modern times was recorded in November 2003 and was estimated to be an X-40. It, too, was on the limb of the Sun and so its full impact was not felt on Earth. That flare was part of an unprecedented series of 10 major flares within two weeks.

Each storm is different, and often solar activity goes unnoticed on Earth, depending on whether a storm hits us square or makes a glancing blow and what the magnetic orientation is. If enough storms erupt, the odds go up that there will be effects here.

There is a 75 percent chance of more X-class flares through Monday, the SEC says. The sunspot is just rotating into view, so its energy has been directed sideways and not directly at Earth. In coming days, if more major flares erupt, they'll head right at us and radio blackouts, cell phone dropouts and other communications disruptions are more likely, scientists said. On Friday, a space radiation storm was captured in an image from the SOHO spacecraft, which monitors the Sun.

The Sun is currently at a low point in its 11-year cycle of activity. While sunspots and flares are less common now, astronomers say they can pack plenty of punch when they do occur.

South Sister Speaks:

Scientists find growing land bulge in Oregon By Teresa Carson Fri Sep 9, 7:04 PM ET PORTLAND, Oregon (Reuters) -

A large, slow-growing volcanic bulge in Eastern Oregon is attracting the attention of seismologists who say that the rising ground could be the beginnings of a volcano or simply magma shifting underground. Scientists said that the 100 square-mile (260 sq-km) bulge, first discovered by satellite, poses no immediate threat to nearby residents.

"It is perfectly safe for anyone over there," said Michael Lisowski, geophysicist at the United States Geological Survey's Cascades Volcano Observatory in Vancouver, Washington. The bulge is rising at a rate of about 1.4 inches per year, according to a report issued by the U.S. Geological Survey.

[I get a little nervous when government types use those words: "it is perfectly safe."] [yeah.]

The bulge is located in a sparsely populated area 3 miles southwest of South Sister, a mountain 25 miles west of Bend, Oregon.

Lisowski said the unnamed bulge was created because of a big cavity, estimated to be about 4.5 miles below the surface, that is filling with fluid.

The fluid is likely magma, but could also be water. It was described in the report as a lake 1 mile across and 65 feet deep.

The bulge is a bare patch of land with no residents, and anyone in the area would not be able to see, feel or smell anything, seismologists said.

South Sister is one of three volcanic peaks called The Three Sisters, which are part of the Cascade mountain range. The range includes four of the 18 most active volcanoes in the United States, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The South Sister probably erupted last time about 2,000 years ago, seismologists said. Further north, the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens killed 57 people, destroyed at least 230 square miles of forest and spewed ash for hundreds of miles. Mount St. Helens has rumbled back to life recently, spitting lava, rocks and ash, but has not had another big eruption.

A lava dome is growing in the huge crater created in Mount St. Helens, but that event appears to be unrelated to the South Sister bulge, seismologists said.

"Growth of the new lava dome inside the crater of Mount St. Helens continues, accompanied by low rates of seismicity, low emissions of steam and volcanic gases, and minor production of ash," the U.S. Geological Survey said in a daily report.

Scientists said they would continue to monitor the bulge, most likely over a number of years. "We haven't seen anything like this in the Cascade range," Lisowski says, "although we have only been looking in the last 20 years."

[We may be in for quite a ride before the year is out, folks!]
