Squeak!

The Egg Salad Express proudly presents the newest addition to our family. Meet Daniel! About 2 years ago, oldest son, at age 9, told of a dream he had wherein our first pet would be a black and white rat. We were to call him "Daniel." So it was. So it is.

As rats go, he is an adorable and intelligent little guy. A few weeks ago, he entered puberty. Alas, he has become a bit aggressive and no longer takes kindly to being lifted out with hands and riding on shoulders. We hope this will dissipate as he gets used to his adult hormones. Nippy, nippy, nippy! For now, he will have to get used to whirling about the house in a giant green, plastic rolly ball with cover. Rats have extremely long, large front teeth. Rats also have very large poops, btw. In case you wondered ... :o)

Aw, I LOVE Daniel!

Once when we found a mouse in our house, my son dubbed it "Pea Whiskers". Then took it outside and set it free. It had the biggest, most adorable eyes.

Hope Daniel gets that 'tude in check soon though....

Cool...Tink!!! I always found rats to be kind of cute. Mice, hampsters, rats...they are all kinda cute. Glad to see you agree. They are really amazing little guys aren't they?

Daniel's lovely, Tink!

I've heard that rats make wonderful pets and they are very intelligent.
And kudos to large poops - they can be much more convenient, as they are easier to find and to dispose of...
My Henrietta Portia Cavius Portcellus, who passed away in August at the ripe old age of five, would dispose of her own poop.
Google - guinea pigs eat poo...
I love the idea that you were able to follow through on your son's dream.

If I did that, I would be the owner of an elephant named Delphine...

Awww ... thanks everyone. We do love him. I think I remember that story Lucy! We will Grace Next, we'll be scoping out parakeets. Then, this summer, a pound dog! Yes Rob. They really are darn cute. I can't say "damn" because the kids make me put a penny in the cursing jar. lol You're right about the poop Dale! Sorry about Henrietta ... I hope it wasn't the poop! An elephant named Delphine ... hm. I KNEW that tent of yours would have another purpose! :o)
