"Goodbye, Blue Monday." was the motto of a company first named The Robo-Magic Corporation of America founded by Fred T. Barry (a Midland City TM character) in 1934. "...it's mission was to design and manufacture the first fully automatic washing machine for use in the home". This enterprise was a failure except for the control chip which the Army installed as a bomb release mechanism on bombers termed BLINC (Blast Interval Normalization Computer). Robo-Magic Corporation changed into The Midland City Ordnance Company & later Barrytron, Limited but they both kept the motto.
Additionally, the protagonist in the book, Dwayne Hoover, painted this message on a 500 pound bomb which was going to be dropped on Hamburg when he was a civilian employee in the Air Corps, during the second world war.

It was a great book!
Apparently, Monday was the traditional laundry day in many homes across America. So, the invention of an automatic washing machine would provoke that type of response from housewives across the America, who would get depressed thinking about laundry Mondays. Goodbye Blue Monday! I sort of feel that way about the automatic oven cleaner feature. "Goodbye Lye!" Anyway, this post does have a point.
Over the weekend, while resting and trying to still get rid of this flu, I spied a weird article about a clothes iron.
Fri Nov 27, 1:54 pm ET
AP---METHUEN, Mass. – A Massachusetts woman who recently separated from her husband and had her hours cut at work says an image of Jesus Christ she sees on her iron has reassured her that "life is going to be good."
FULL STORY
As I stared at this photo, I felt so icky. Other than the fact that it's just weird, it looked so familiar and I couldn't place *why* ... then I realized it was the pattern of the iron's steam vents that looked so familiar.
Jesus image "trapped" on iron. Venomous snakebite pattern.
Hello Weird Monday!

Blue Monday - yes it was originally due to the fact it was laundry day - and still is at my house - but owes its name to "bluing", a whitening agent added to the laundry to keep linens - you guessed it - white!
We also used it in the manes tails of white horses at horse shows - it really works!
Have a good Monday, Tink!
I am now off to switch loads...
xx
I think your image of the snake is more accurate!! Jesus on an iron.....geez......
Ya, the iron, the toast...
We can imagine anything in a shape.
I have Father Christmas in a rock above my fireplace...
Hi Tink!
I was gonna say the same thing as Dale -- about the "blueing". (hey, would blueing work on greying (graying) hair too? Bet it would! (or maybe that's why some old ladies (e.g., Marge Simpson) HAVE blue hair. LOL
Tink - your powers of observation about the fang marks: INCREDIBLE!
Cool post, as ever.
Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

(p.s. I think Jesus looks more like Mona)
Oh my ... so sorry that I nearly missed your wonderful commentary!
I had forgotten about laundry "bluing" Dale! lol Yes, I guess that would be used on the white hair of elderly women to make it brighter, but I'm thinking you have to be careful not to use too much. The Blue Old Lady Group. :o) Now Dale .. that is amazing! Does it show up in a photo?? That would be very cool. I found a polished marble stone that has a weird image in it. Sort of a cross between Santa standing behind a young child. I love finding images in things.
Yeah, Grace .. it just struck me as the weirdest thing. I mean, you could see that as Jesus i suppose. We're only seeing a photo, not the real thing; BUT ... there's no mistaking that bite pattern! Shivery. I used to worry constantly in Arizona when I walked the dog. He was always sticking his nose into hidden areas. We had crossed paths with rattlesnakes, but never too close. Scary.
Hmm Lucy .. I didn't think about it until you said it ... but you're right! It does look like Mona Lisa. Or maybe Marge Simpson with blue hair .. on a bad hair day ... heh. Of course, with Marge's hair .. it was always a bad hair day. lol
Stay warm!
