Tinkers!

I just discovered that the word "tinkers" ... in Ireland and other places, has a very negative connotation. I always viewed it as meaning "traveler" or "to fiddle around with electronics or other stuff." It's also a software program. The Internet is a marvel of things before unknown!

Now, I've gone and made a whole music blog at myspace, called "Soul Tinkers." Oy. What to do, what to do. I guess I'll leave it be, as it is supposed to be a play on my nickname "tink" and the word "tinkers" ... as in "travelers."

Hm.

The reason I got wondering was from Pete Townshend's blog, wherein he referenced his mother's family history, noting that the family was descended from "tinkers" and it was apparent in that post, that "tinkers" was not something looked well upon. So, I did look it up. Apparently, it was not originally a necessarily negative thing, for the tinkers were people in Ireland who traveled from place to place in caravans of a sort, smithing, selling wares, sometimes begging. Gypsies, as it were.

This day, the tinkers seem to be similar to how homeless populations would be viewed here in the U.S. Most in the U.S., however, would not be homeless by choice. I know, I was "homeless" for 8 months with 3 young children. Over 2 million now homeless in America. Many families. But, homelessness will be for another blog post!

I have to stop thinking of the negative connotation every time I see my name! "TINK" lol I'll look at it backwards now "KNIT" ... and knitting is a good thing. :o) The nickname did come from a sweetheart of a friend who was seriously schizophrenic. She just felt and saw life in another parallel. Sometimes, that view bled over into the now and she could not cope well. Medication did help her. A lot. It wasn't a name that came from Disney's Tinkerbelle. But, she's a fine fairy in her own right. :o)

Peace & love folks,

Tink

Hi Tink,
Thanks for dropping by my blog, and welcome!

That's interesting where your nickname came from, now I know that it has nothing to do with Tinkerbell, the fairy from Peter Pan.

I saw you around Pete's blog, good to see some new people there.

Thanks for your concern about my dog, I really hope I can find her soon!

Feel free to drop by again!

Take care.

Hi Tink,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am glad you liked my video. I was jumping off the top of my amp. I love that picture. My dad took it and got me at the perfect height. Wow that is cool you are so close. You are just down the road. Does your son play music?

Thanks for stopping by,

Aaron jr

Aw, I hope so too, MC. I pray for Sophie! Thanks for stopping in with a sweetie note.

Hi Aaron,
It was very cool to have you stop by my blog. sorry it's so late. Had a busy day. I have 3 kids who go to school at home with me as their teacher. 2 boys and 1 girl.

You jumped from your amp??? Wow. Well, it was perfect. Your dad's a great photographer.

No, Orion doesn't play music. He was interested in the guitar last year. I did the yucky Mom test when he had $50 in birthday money. I asked that he pay for the first guitar (a junior model so it was only around $30.) He wouldn't do it, so I told him when he was more serious about learning and playing, that we'd get one. ;o) Orion is on the Autism spectrum. He has something called Asperger's Syndrome. My 9 yr. old son, Ben, has severe autism - the one where people can't speak and have a lot of trouble coordinating their bodies to walk and stuff. Orion loves the computer, Pokemon, Neopets, dinosaurs, stuff like that. He is a country music fan, not so much rock. That's okay, too!

He mixes sounds, wav. files, video on the computer - lots of cool graphic things. He also writes stories and is learning to type. That's his creative passion - graphics/sounds. Maybe some day, he'll be video producing your "Aaron's Pete Townshend Show" ! He's very shy, so he would be happy behind the camera instead in front of it! ;o) Maybe one day you guys will get to meet. You never know. I'll watch your blog and if you are in another stage play or musical show, post it and maybe I'll be able to bring my kids to see YOU!

Time for bed now, tho - so take good care.

Hi Tink

I saw you over on Rachel's blog and decided to stop in...it was your name that caught my eye.

My friend's Dad's nickname has been "Tink" for over 80 years!

I wondered...

Hi Dale!
I love your posts. They're so comfy and always bring a smile. ;o)

I've read/heard about a number of men nicknamed "Tink" ... wild! I just read that Arthur Barrow (bassist/Zappa) has the childhood nickname "Tink." Couldn't find who or why he was so named, tho.

Well, we're about the same age (50) and I joke often about being "old." My 10-yr-old son asks me once in a while if I'm "old." lol I just tell him "older than you!" ;o)

I was thinking about your dream and the teeth. The meaning of that one is very dependent on how you feel about yourself in the moment. Worried about aging or losing something? Sometimes being too much to too many can trigger that one, too. That's enough, too, outta me! lol
Thanks for stopping ... I've read your blog a number of times but always seem to run out of time to comment. I like it very much. Nice and earthy, just like you!

Hi Tink,
My very dear friend's name is "Tink" and she is a sweetheart. Looks like there's something in the name because you are a sweetheart too!!

How very unexpected and thoughtful of you to be willing to take the time to share your knowledge about this "picture issue" I'm having. Yes, yes and yes ~ I will happily accept your offer of help! You are way sweet!!!

Thank you for stopping by my post with such kindness. I have been to your post a few times and have always enjoyed you ~ just haven't had the time to leave you a message. I'm in the middle of selling my house and I'm in the process of helping my daughter move into her new home( when it rains - it pours! :)

I will be in and out of here for the next few days ~ hopefully I will get some time to sit back and enjoy this "new world" I've ventured into :)

I look forward to talking to you real soon!

And thank you so much, once again, for your thoughtful heart, Janice

Yeah, Sully ...
You could tell I'm not proficient with html. I study the template and experiment a lot. ha. Now that Blogger has easy template inserts, my blog, too, can look normal!

:o)

Have a rockin' day!

Hiya Janice,
Boy do I understand about lack of time. hoo. I left a note on your blog with a link to your photo. You can try it in the profile edit section. I think it was too big for blogger to accept in the photo profile. I resized it, saved it to my blog, and sent you that link. Not sure if it will work that way. If not, I'll help you resize it on your computer (if you need help) then you can reload it into a blogpost and save it on your own blog. I'll wait to hear from you and your gorgeous smile!
