Gimme Some Truth

John Lennon, I love you. You are one of the icons who left us too soon and left a hole in my heart.

Your music is as - if not more - pertinent today than it was when it was created.

Here is Part I of the "Making of Imagine." You can see Phil Spector at work before he got a hole in his brain. Rob will love to hate this clip, due to Yoko's pernicious presence. I think that John's spirit does live on and hope that his creations continue to give hope and inspire love. I think, to paraphrase others, if something can be imagined - it can become reality. In God's time.

Just Gimme Some Truth

I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
Money for dope
Money for rope

I’m sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama’s little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dicky
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of soap
It’s money for dope
Money for rope

Ah, I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocrites
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now

I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth now

Just gimme some truth now
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

You are right Tink...Anytime I see that Yoko's mug I just have to think....Why? What did he see in her? And more importantly...why didn't he use her as a human shield on that fateful December night.

All bad jokes aside...I do miss John Lennon and I wonder to this day why Mark David Chapman is still breathing. He should have been put down like a rabid, mad dog years ago or at least been murdered in prison. That would have worked:)

Oh yeah, I forgot he was insane...so he can't be put to death. He wasn't one of those "sane" people who goes around shooting people for no apparent reason. Sorry, but I guess I'll never understand that whole "insanity plea" BS!

Anyway, the focus here should probably be on John's music right?
Well, on that note...He was a pure genius and I imagine he had a lot more good music in him. Sadly, we'll never know. Then again at least we have Yoko and Sean's "music" to continue his legacy. Can you feel the sarcasm? LOL!

Aw, Rob....

Yoko's OK.

Tink -- I can't get the video to come up. Maybe later.

Meantime, I'm YouTubing John's Imagine, but the system's probably crashing. I can't get it to come up either! (It's 11:15, the time we're all supposed to remember John in EST)...

Now I'm trying to get this to come up, and it's not coming up either:

P.S.

I wonder if John Lennon would've rapped.

Can you imagine?

OK, Tink... I got your video to come up! Really cool one. I'm enjoying it.

Oh, Tink.

I MUST save your quote of the day before it disappears. I LOVE it!

This world is a comedy to those that think; a tragedy to those that feel.

More quotes from Horace Walpole

No wonder I find life a tragicomedy!

Ah GAH *human shield* only you Rob.. only you! LOL

Seriously, first, HI TINK!! HOW ARE YOU AND HOW ARE YOUR ADORABLE KIDDIES!?!

I was just talking to a friend about Lennon and Yoko last night at dinner, and his take on their relationship is that Lennon so loved the avant guarde, when he climbed the ladder at Yoko's art show to read what it said on the ceiling, he fell in love with her before he even met her. I for one cannot appreciate her *art*, and do think his infatuation with her and the soul he poured into parenting Sean seemed to disrespect his marriage (what were Cynthia and Julian, chopped liver?). But love being what it is, knows no reason sometimes I guess.

I'm late, I'm late, for my very own blog date! :o)

Hiya Rob Knew we could count on you to put things in perspective. lol I'll have to agree with Lace on Yoko's "art." Her voice makes me a little nauseous. Sorry Yoko, but it's not what you need to do to win friends and influence people. It's the chalkboard/fingernail thing for me. I can dig performance art by the likes of someone good. Such as Atomic Elroy (Tom McElroy, A.E.) I think Julian Lennon is the really gifted one and is largely ignored. Maybe by choice? Would John have rapped, Lucy? An interesting question! I'll be he would have given it a try. Part of I Am The Walrus almost sounds like rap!

I do wonder, though, how much of John's soul level work *was* inspired by Yoko.

That's an interesting discussion you had Lace Maybe infatuation turned deeper with time.

The children are doing well and blossoming. Each one in a program that suits their individual needs and personalities. Thanks very much for asking!

Lucy so glad you were able to watch it. I had never seen "Gimme Some Truth" and need to make time to go watch the whole thing! Yes! That was an interesting quote. It's good to be able to do both - think *and* feel. Was it Dante who wrote about that very thing?

Well, off to busy land! Thank you, "guys" for your always interesting and insightful replies.

"Why don't we do it in the road" is now playing at the coffee house I'm typing from. Not one of John's high moments, or maybe it was one of his too high moments.

I don't care for John and can't figure for the life of me this infatuation with him. The early Beatles I DID love and I admit that John's music seemed to be getting back in stride as he got shot.

Cream, The Band, The Buffalo Springfield, Dylan, Hendrix etc, now there is greatness. Maybe the Beatles should have stayed together and forced John and Paul not to marry. Man did things go south for them after that.

Hi Tink. It's good to hear you and the kids are doing well.

Hi Tink, Imagine is one of my most very favourite songs. Great video, I don't mind Yoko, I can take or leave her.
And Bruce has great buns!!!

John loved Yoko.
Who are we to judge or ask why?
Let her be.

As for the clip - Legends, all of them!
Nicky, Phil, Klaus...

I often long for those simple days.

lol .. Hello Tom It's okay ... we don't always have to "get" it. You didn't "get" the auties at first, either. ;o) Hope you're well out there in Santa Barbara. Go home soon. You can e-mail if you want. My Mom is back in the hospital w/ congestive heart failure. My brother is being treated for lung cancer. This Holiday season, while probably not going to be the happiest in memory, is very important to our family. It's a reminder that we need to put love and God #1 on the lists. ;o) I think Paul and John's music was a reflection of the uncertain times rather than having anything to do with marriage. But, you never know. lol Be well!

Hey Grace You're so sweet. Yoko's worship of things Egyptian makes me nervous. But, to each his own ... that is for certain.

I know Dale I long for simpler times, too. I don't question John and Yoko's love for each other. I don't think anyone can deny that exists.

Thanks Tink. You are probably right about John and Paul.

"Move home soon" eh? I have to move alright but it looks like to the desert...St George, UT in a week.

Eastward Ho!

Is this strange, Sexy Sadie just came on. Which by the way is my favorite John Lennon song.

When John was killed I felt like someone in my own family was taken away. There was such a sense of loss. Growing up with his music made him a real part of my life. Just as Pete Townshend has been a part of my life since 1971. We don't realize what these men mean to us until a tragedy happens.

Oh to go back, but then, we don't know what's in the beyond.

Ahhh Zoe! His spirit spoke from Great Beyond! ;o) I love when those "synchros" happen. Simple reminder of much greater things happening beyond our ability to "see." Cool. Yes, it's amazing how much the arts have and continue to influence cultures/societies/our very souls. Pete has always said that his songs/The Who were simply a reflection back of the current culture. I think that's partly true. ;o)

Hope Holiday season isn't driving you batty.
