Spotted our very first "blue jay" this morning. "Look! Look! A blue woodpecker!" they called out. This chubby jay bird was pecking away at a fence top and did look woodpeckerish. I first heard a most amazing sound - like a teakettle chirruping. Looking West off the Northern back porch - there he was! Bright and lovely as a round of turquoise sitting in rusty-hued dirt. This bird likes to imitate the ivory-billed woodpecker! I happen to love mimics and find the voice and its range of squeaks, ability to imitate, songs, all sorts of vocals fascinating. So, this bird holds particular enchantment for me. I just plain love birds. Here's what the "bird experts" had to write about this amazing "mimic":
"Common, conspicuous, and noisy, Blue Jays are capable of making a wide variety of sounds. In addition to the loud and often heard jay! jay! call, a bell-like tull-ull call, a melodious whistled teekle, and a variety of chattering, harsh notes and growls may be heard. Blue Jays also produce a remarkable imitation of the scream of a Red-shouldered Hawk.

Here's a song chirp from what Paul McCartney wrote about love & life and the Bluebird:
All Alone On A Desert Island
We're Living In The Trees,
And We're Flying In The Breeze.
We're The Bluebirds, We're The Bluebirds
We're The Bluebirds, We're The Bluebirds
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

What the heck kind of "word find" bots do these spammers USE?
