Jelly Jar Justice

Oh the supreme irony. Lickety split. In a New York minute. Right as rain. A fortuitous concatenation of events. However you want to call it. The old stoners get a message. A little synchronicity. The "supreme" court dinosaurs lose a few marbles. Or at least a bit of the facade of "justice."

Maybe it's just me who has lost her marbles. I found this news story about the falling of the marble facade over the Supreme Court in conjunction with the one almost happily noting that the 999th execution of a prisoner in the U.S. was carried out this week. The 999th execution. In the land of the ::::cough:::: free and home of the ::::hack::: brave. Okay - it wasn't a hugely momentous event. [the facade failure]But, it smacks of *some* kind of sign. I won't bore ya'll with my blah blah blah on prison terms versus death penalties. The "coincidence" of the two events just made me think. A lot.

Pieces of marble fall from Court facade

WASHINGTON - A basketball-sized piece of marble molding fell from the facade over the entrance to the Supreme Court Monday, landing on the steps near visitors waiting to enter the building.

No one was injured when the stone fell. The marble was part of the dentil molding that serves as a frame for sculptural figures. The piece that fell was over the figures, near the peak of the building, and to the right of the figure of Liberty, who has the scales of justice on her lap.

Well ... just wait until you meet "Happy" Singh. Singapore's hangman. Yah. Reportedly, he is not happy today. The death penalty over there is hanging. For things like drug offenses. He was recently disturbed because he is apparently not going to be allowed to be the hangman of presence in an upcoming um, well ... public hanging. You gotta admire his dedication to the job. Quite a song for an executioner. Basically, he says I do my job and do it right. People gotta die - so make it quick & painless. Hello Pulp Fiction! yikes.
