37 Cents and the Poor Me Culture

Will daddy remember my birthday this year?
Do you think he’ll send a Christmas card?
The last phone call made it clear,
37 cents too much, too hard.
poor me

Daddy met that man again,
rolling dice and bong-o’s blend;
children cry again oh when,
why doesn’t he use the stamps we send?
poor me

Stereos, live hot pics! e-bay perversity galore,
videos and dvds, pills and pot and gilded whores;
daddy just couldn’t get to the store,
in his head, daddy’s fighting the wars.
poor me

Toys and things come and go.
forgotten in hanalei masts tattered;
a simple note made personal you know,
37 cents would have shown who mattered.
poor me

We lay blame all around,
on hillaries dicks and golden calves;
but when it comes to our town,
the responsibility is halves.
poor me

Part his part hers,
part yours part mine;
blame it on the boys, blame it on the girls,
but keep ignoring who’s really crying.
paucity of authentic love.

37 cents won’t feed the masses but it does rather than says, and it could feed a child’s soul for eternity. Echoing on and into eternity: Children learn by what you do not what you say.

The treasures a child needs in his or her life are time and attention being the priority. Children are smart. They know in a heartbeat who is who and what is what. We just erase their wise knowings right out with our careless irresponsibility. Do we really believe that a child—in their deepest heart—forgives the man or woman who shamelessly flaunts addictions, perversions, or simple selfishness? They know when daddy or mommy is out and about chasing the moon and spending money --- their own or others. They know where time priorities are spent too.
And they can’t square in their minds that they’re not worth 37 cents and a heart written personal note. Dads and Moms out there who have custody battles ... send them anyway and let your kids know that you sent those love notes. Moms and Dads who would withhold or sabotage those expressions from the children ... shame on you. Actions such as those perpetuate the continuation of the cycle of pain and abandonment children feel in these situations. Annie is not without understanding to the cycles of family addictions, violence, and putting selfishness before true giving of self to the children. There is always an excuse, a rationalization, and the horrible weighted mask of denial.

Who takes the time these days to write a personal note of love or encouragement to their children, let alone taking time with them to watch the sun, the stars, an ant traversing a blade of grass, teaching to catch a ball, or for some with motor impairments ... simply taking the time to help them walk up & down stairs. I fear that in our hurry world --- these crucial aspects in a child's healthy development are very lacking. These are the treasures that children hold through the years. Under their pillows, into the shoebox, over the rainbow.

The greatest treasures my children hold are these things. The hand written notes, cards, stones and other gifts of the Earth. Those are the treasures from heart to heart that they keep in their time boxes and under their pillows. Most important is valuing them with time, attention, and things less tangible such as putting them first. For real. And those are the greatest treasures we can give to them to take into their own futures.

I write not to any individual.

Annie has taken a number of behind-the-scenes anonymous and not so anonymous e-mail hits from some thinking that she has been writing about or to a specific individual.

lol ... not so.

When Annie writes to an individual she will write in private or plainly state it as so on the blog. Such as to Todd Goldman or the current feminist in office, which of course is going to be construed as far-reaching. Just because there are so many. lol

Understand --- the ideology of feminism is embraced “equally” by many men. Even men who claim to be authentic, responsible, and impartial. If you embrace the core of most “isms” including and especially “feminism,” then Annie just believes that you are neither authentic, responsible, nor impartial. It’s impossible. The core of feminism worships the feminine and feminine ideology. It is not “equal” to view one gender over the other as supreme for any reason. You get what you pay for. And you pay for what you believe. I’ll put any bet money with the men when they come back to authenticity.

If any person sees him/her self in anything written here --- then that’s your issue to monitor and deal with. Not mine. If there is something that strikes a personal chord .... then the piece has done it's job. And it's your responsibility to understand what that chord vibrato means to *you* Not me!

While perusing our page hits this week --- we discovered that the largest viewing of blog entries were the ones with nakedness. My druid dream image [albeit veiled] and Of All Things ... bare Barbies. And interestingly -- the Gumby's Last Ride brought the most response. It would be nice to see some of those comments actually on the blog. Annie allows for anonymous comments, you know. That's what the feature is there for ---- we can help fight the Anonymous Internet Annoyance Law. Feel free to be as annoying as you'd like! As bloggers know, the "anonymous" feature allows commentary on the blog without going into Annie's e-mail. So, E-mail is getting clogged folks! :o)

No --- Gumby was not about any individual. Gumby served as a compilation figure of many. Gumby and Lop Ear had been written way back on December 30th, if we remember the original entry. It had few views. Annie’s concern about that post was—while it was funny—and the overall theme was perfect for these issues of “poor me” and “nanny states of feminist culture” --- the name of the darn rabbit just bothered Annie a lot. Peanut. Same name as my little bunny. So, we put it aside and waited for our Gumby photos to arrive to expand the entry. They did. We did. And the commentary it brought focused on the newd Barbies and the who was Gumby? lol

Did you see yourselves? yep. Well, Annie removed the post for now and is going to re-work it for you all, taking Peanut the Rabbit out. But, we’ll leave in Gumby and Barbie because it was such an interesting magical mirror. We still have to figure it out some. Gumby and Barbie incorporate the baser aspects of ourselves. Those encountered via our limbic systems. Since we had the quintessential "limber" man and the quintessential "plastic" woman ... they seemed a good match. Yes, we picked on the Men's Movement because we believe very strongly in what they are trying to accomplish. Sometimes our friends "out there" need a jumpstart when they're stuck ... via a surge of emotion. ;o)

In the meantime, remember those 37 cents and what it means to your kids.

We gather our children - of all kinds - and hurriedly push them into our instant gratification worlds. And they know who is who and what is what. It matters little to me if you are mother, father, relative, or friend. Personal responsibility is key. Take it or lose another generation to the idol worshipping church of “poor me.”

Can the new "VAWA" sneak in law on Internet Annoyance *really* be enforced? Probably. Can our "government" do what they would like so far as setting up false mails or planted and bogus "evidence" toward individuals that they would seek to silence? Of course. Annie's a bit of naive in many odd ways, but she's getting farther from the turnip truck. Live an exemplary life and any fear of retribution or blackmail is effectively resolved. And do we know why? Because there are others who believe as we do. If we put an exemplary self out into public AND private lives --- it makes it very difficult, very costly, and very time-consuming to prove otherwise. What's the old saying? Too many witnesses! lol

So stop beating up the mirrors you encounter and do some walking. In a narcissistic culture and country, perhaps we seek to destroy what is envied. That’s a lot to think about.
