This morning, we had some excitement in our backyard! And it was very much needed as the four of us have been battling a nasty flu.
Overnight, a small white shaggy bell-capped mushroom appeared.
The children were so excited as this was the first time a mushroom has ever made an entrance in our small patch of yard.
Orion said the fairies probably decided to move to our yard overnight and grew this mushroom for their house.
Many years ago, I told the children a story about "Frilly The Flower Fairy" who lived in the Forest with many friends and was "in charge" of painting all the colors in the World. We had a whole series of make believe stories about their adventures in the World. Sarah said "I can't think of a thing to say!" about the new mushroom. She is very awed by this magical moment of Nature.
Ben touched his Blue's Clues talking book "All the colors that we know, live up in the Rainbow."
This reminded me of a novel begun in 2002, titled "God Is A Fairy." Two chapters had been written --- but along with a large portion of my childrens stories, poems, prose, novels in progress --- it had been destroyed from my computer by one individual's act of malice. Remember to back up your stuff!
The idea came from thinking about the collective movement of our thoughts, emotions, struggles, triumphs, beliefs --- both positive & negative in the poles of Life. And "what if" you are me and she is he and he is she and we are you and you are we? "What if" you and I moving together, form that overarching "All" we call "God?" In essence --- the age old concept: "God is what you think God Is." Adds a different flavor to the color palate/palette of the World and creates, in my mind, the grievous need for people to take careful responsibility for themselves because we create each other. Heaven or Hell ... with a little help from our Friends ... we make it so. Maybe! ;o)
Anyway --- maybe some day we'll go back to that novel. But, I think it's already been said in enough ways by others.
Orion adds: "I think the fairies are trying to protect it [the mushroom house] because it turns invisible for a minute and then you see it again." He sees the illusion created by the sun's reflections.
Ben points to phrase: "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." [from file of favorite quotes.]
From Dora The Explorer's Learn Through Music:
"Find an instrument that makes this sound: Xylophone! Sing with me! First, we go to the Jazzy Jungle then the Rockin' River then the Music Workshop. We go the Birdsong Garden."
Blessings of the Day to All
