The Last Profiteers

Last night, my son Ben played a particular song in repetition. Hadn't heard it in years. Then, I had a very odd dream about false prophets wearing rabbit skins. They were lion-like [lying like] with crowns upon their heads. The crowns were placed by some strange ceremony where they were assisted by cat-like creatures. The "lions" placed the crowns upon their own heads and set out to deceive these rabbit creatures. In the end, the lions and cats were trapped in a hole in the ground that the lions had originally dug to trap the rabbits! It reminded me a little bit of the book Watership Down. I don't remember much of the dream now. But it was significant. I searched some google images today for "rabbits" and this one popped up. No coincidence. Rabbits and autism share an unusual connection.

Strangely, the theme reoccurred for us that some attempt to profit in various greedy ways not realizing that it is their very own souls on the line. I saw a t.v. preacher this morning going on and on about doing for God. It took me a minute to realize that it was an old clip of Jim Baker. There he was preaching to the choir when he was lining his own pockets and deceiving others. A last "profiteer" for certain. Yikes!

So, back to the song. I read that Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics when trying to help his friend Elton John realize that he was making a bad mistake. Anyway, it turns out that Elton lived through the suicide attempt and went on in the future to accept his homosexuality. It's interesting that Ben has always seemed to keep his eye out for the most "misfit" and often most suicidal individuals. No doubt that this young autistic child is a powerful healer and spiritual savant. It's difficult to comprehend for some. Yes, he still experiences as a child - physically, emotionally, developmentally - but when you watch him doing "soul" work there is no room to doubt a very unique spiritual presence and connection.

Someone Saved My Life Tonight

When I think of those East End lights, muggy nights
The curtains drawn in the little room downstairs
Prima Donna lord you really should have been there
Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair
And it's one more beer and I don't hear you anymore
We've all gone crazy lately
My friends out there rolling round the basement floor

And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me didn't you dear
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear

You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye

I never realised the passing hours of evening showers
A slip noose hanging in my darkest dreams
I'm strangled by your haunted social scene
Just a pawn out-played by a dom-in-ating queen

It's four o'clock in the morning
Damn it! listen to me good!
I'm sleeping with myself tonight
Saved in time,
thank God my music's still alive

And I would have walked head on into the deep end of the river
Qlinging to your stocks and bonds
Paying your H.P. demands forever
They're coming in the morning with a truck to take me home
Someone saved my life tonight,
someone saved my life tonight
Someone saved my life tonight,
someone saved my life tonightSomeone saved my life tonight

So save your strength and run the field you play alone
